Guerlain for Men: Aftershave and Cologne Fragrances
The long established perfume house, Guerlain, has a reputation for excellence, the expert understanding of what makes the perfect scent and creating luxury fragrances that give unadulterated pleasure to both the wearer and those around them.
The position of perfumer had been passed down through the family since Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain founded the Parisian business back in 1828 where he cleverly created individual scents for his customers. He became the official perfumer of the King of France and also had royalty in other countries as customers.
After his death, his two sons took over from him with one of them becoming the new perfumer. The house continued to flourish with the launch of more fragrances. Later Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlains two grandsons took charge and again one of them held the position of perfumer. Shalimar Guerlains flagship perfume for women was created in 1925.
Jean-Paul Guerlain then became the perfumer and male fragrances were as popular as the women’s and just as luxurious. Robert Granai designed the fabulous bottles from 1959 giving style and grace to the presentation of the products.
In 1994 LVMH acquired Guerlain and this signalled the end of the perfumers being purely family members but not of the high quality one would expect from this house.
